Time just comes and goes Time is coming near But I cannot tonight Time just comes and goes But I do not know What I’m shakin’ Restless, like the tides Restless, stars I realize Time just comes and goes Keep it going strong We can’t be always wrong Keeping up the lines Keeping up the load We can’t be this exposed Restless, like the tides Restless, stars I realize Hopes I do not sow Hopes they never show Leave ’em alone tonight Seasons come and glide Darkness through the light Then we really know Restless, like the tides Restless, stars I realize Dark nights late moods, I’m dreaming Dark nights late moods, I’m dreaming

Stranger 03:41
Stranger You’re a stranger In a lost time You’re floating away Stranger Keep your eyes closed Keep your mind shut Keep your garden locked You’re a stranger Circling ’round the moon Yet I know your walk I know your gaze I know your talk I know your face You’re a stranger In a strange place In a cold maze What a sacred waste Though I know your walk I don’t know your pace Stranger You’re a stranger In a lost time You’re floating away Yet I don’t really know you You could never be close ’Cause you cut all lines You were not there And all I can say Oh how oh how did we get to this place With the same arms and legs With the same lungs and eyes All up in ablaze

Home 03:30
We moved into this place About two years ago We moved into this place Hoping for more We lit all our candles We hung our dreams on hooks We told each other It’s eternal, through hills and woods We mourned our dear friend We cried for his return All nestled safe together It’s eternal, through dimensions and blues We didn’t know How hard it could be We didn’t know All we would see The souls we’d lose The places we’d be How could we know How could we know We sang ourselves a sad song We found ourselves some new friends We cast our sails across the ocean Ready for fun Ready for fun We’re ready for fun Ready for fun

Leaving 05:01
I think I’m gonna leave you You just never learned to tell the truth I cried all night thinking of leaving ’Cause I always believed your lies Bubble is burst No turning back I’m grieving the lack Of every love track You had me wound We had a good run A good run I think I’m gonna leave you But I felt this times before I think your heart is always on standby A pulse that pretended we were true Bubble is burst No turning back I’m grieving the lack Of every love track You had me wound We had a good run A good run Already I’m missing your sad eyes But I’m not sure I can start again I wonder if you’re thinking, thinking of leaving You know me, know me better than you
5.
Truck Stop 04:20
Truck stop I’m stopping for something else In the truck stop I don’t feel myself Three trucks stopping in a row Getting closer to the flow I come inside for some life But I don’t know why But I don’t know why I don’t know why I stare out the window At the bright lights The bright lights are shining And I went inside It was darker there But I didn’t give a damn ’Cause I cared for something else Truck stop heaven and I’m going somewhere I’m at a standstill yet I’m going somewhere I’m at a standstill yet I’m going somewhere Don’t you believe in anything Truck stop standstill I’m waiting, I’m waiting to be real But I’ll keep my wheels a rollin' I’ll keep it going I’ll roll right out of town
6.
Gonna Die 02:44
She said she'll die She said she knows, just knows it She said she had a dream Where we must say goodbye We're all gonna die She heard the news from a photograph She saw the ships sinking in the sea She was told time is to fear We must say goodbye We're all gonna die We’re all gonna die We’re all gonna die We’re all gonna die We’re all gonna die We’re all gonna die
7.
Softer than the rain Harder than the rock All you ever said was Talk talk talk talk talk Killing me dreaming Dreaming for a day ’Cause I can’t stand here alone For another day, another day Hiding behind clouds Living off the bounds of life And the sounds of love Oceans of phony Fears on the plains Crazy you told me Held up in pain Feeling me clinging Screaming for a day ’Cause I can’t stand here alone For another day, another day Hiding behind clouds Living off the bounds of life And the sounds of love Maybe that loss was part of this Maybe grief carried it away Maybe that life was over it Maybe the words don’t pay Stuck here for a short amount of time Hiding behind clouds Living off the bounds of life And the sounds of love

Rabbit 03:02
Rabbit is dying Time’s running out Rabbit is trying Rabbit is out of time Rabbit is living life Rabbit is trying Rabbit is crying Rabbit don’t give a darn for the half-baked truths And all those bundles of yarn Rabbit is trying Rabbit is crying Rabbit is lying facedown Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick Time is a truckin’ Tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick Time is flying Rabbit is holding on Rabbit ain’t got that long Rabbit is trying Rabbit is trying Rabbit is dying Goodbye dear rabbit
9.
The mountains and the mist up above And we say farewell to the light The fountains of youth are now all gone And we hear last calls of the night Too much of nothing Too much of dark winters Too much of no one caring Too much of nothing Too much for everything My lover you’re my friend too And we feel fragile and awake The day folds eyes the moon stands by And we dream last thoughts ’til dusk Too much of nothing Too much of dark winter nights Too much of no one caring Too much of nothing Too much for everything Our mortal souls now all shake And we know we’ll soon depart And we did what we could And we held each other tight And we waited until the end Too much of nothing Too much of dark winter nights Too much of no one caring Too much of nothing Too much for everything

about

Ghost Shepherd’s debut album, From the After Hours of the Heart, features nine haunting ballads that explore the ephemeral nature of time, eternal love, estrangement, cosmic angst, mortal reckoning, loss, and dimensions of grief.

The album’s atmosphere is a carefully balanced soundscape filled with delicate vocals, shimmering guitars, strings, electronics, and a theremin that acts as a spiritual and oneiric through-line. Each song is a voyage back to a memory of, and a longing for, kinship.
